F-E-E-S is an acronym for Financial Education for Elementary Students. F-E-E-S was started by Brian D. Shapiro who is a United States Bankruptcy Trustee and Creditor Rights Attorney. Mr. Shapiro has been involved in thousands of financial cases throughout Las Vegas. It was his belief that there is a need in our community to teach general financial concepts to children in elementary schools so that they can get a head start in understanding about financial issues. Accordingly, he started this program called F-E-E-S.
For more information on Mr. Shapiro, you can review his web sites at the following links:
Brian Shapiro, Bankruptcy Trustee
We have created a 6 week class which discusses general topics on finances and as a reward, the students get 3 weeks of legal education on how to put on a case, from opening statements, examining witnesses and closing statements. Week 7 is a field trip to the local courthouse in which a judge will hear the case and rule. The concept is that at the end of the day, the kids will learn about finance and graduate by earning their own "attorney's F-E-E-S".
You can read more about the class as you browse this site. Here are a few highlights.
